Powersaw operator (pso)


Course Description

PowerSaw Operator (SPO) training is delivered over two full days: One day in the classroom (theory) and one day in the field (practical exercise).  Evaluation criteria by a written exam and field exercises. Upon completion of this course, students will demonstrate the safe work and handling principles necessary to safely operate a chainsaw and a fundamental understanding of safe chainsaw use and injury prevention. This is course is not a faller certification

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)  
  • Hazard Identification  
  • Chainsaw Components & Safety Features  
  • Essential Saw Maintenance.  
  • Basic Chainsaw Bucking Cuts

Student are required to bring own personal protective equipment (PPE) 

  • Hard Hat with mesh visor
  • Hearing Protection
  • Safety Goggles
  • Work Boots
  • Pants and long sleeve shirt
  • Approved Chainsaw Chaps
  • Gloves
  • Chainsaw

If participants do not have all PPE or equipment,  please contact FHO2 and let us know items you are missing as FHO2 does have a limited PPE and equipment that can be loaned for the course.
